   虛擬語(yǔ)氣

　　表示所說(shuō)的不是事實(shí)，或者是不可能發(fā)生的情況，而只是一種愿望、假設(shè)或猜測(cè)。

　　1.表示和現(xiàn)在事實(shí)相反的假設(shè)：

　　He is honest. If he were dishonest, I should not trust him.

　　He is not alive. If he were alive today, he would be a hero.

　　2.表示和過(guò)去事實(shí)相反的假設(shè)：

　　If there had been no air, there would have been no living things.

　　You didn't come here yesterday. If you had come here yesterday, you would have seen him.

　　3.和將來(lái)事實(shí)相反的假設(shè)：

　　If he should be here tomorrow, he would call me up.

　　If it were to rain tomorrow, the match would be cancelled.

　　4.虛擬語(yǔ)氣的一些其他用法

　　(1)在動(dòng)詞require, propose, recommend, suggest, demand, insist 和order等后面的賓語(yǔ)從句中，一般用虛擬語(yǔ)氣.

　　例如：

　　I suggest that we (should) repair the machine at once.

　　The leader of the team ordered that all (should) finish the work by supper time.

　　He insisted that all (should) attend the meeting.

　　(2)在“It is time(that) +從句”的結(jié)構(gòu)中，從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用過(guò)去式.

　　例如：It is time we went to work.

　　(3)在由as if, so that, in order that, as though等引導(dǎo)的狀語(yǔ)從句中，也往往用虛擬語(yǔ)氣形式。

　　例如: Annie treated me exactly as if I were a seeing and hearing child.

　　(4)虛擬語(yǔ)氣在主語(yǔ)從句中的用法：在It is necessary (natural, strange, important) that等句型中，后面主語(yǔ)從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用“should+動(dòng)詞原形”結(jié)構(gòu)。本文|由中華會(huì)計(jì)網(wǎng)校獨(dú)家整理。

　　例如：

　　It is strange that he should have been late for the meeting.

　　It is necessary that we should take the box away at once.

　　1)Then the child has, as it were, private lessons all the year round, …

　　2)The chairman proposed that we should stop the meeting.

　　3)Skilled businessmen, scientists and politicians are supposedly able to figure out in advance what will happen. One expert on cities wrote: Cities of the future would not be crowded, but would have space for farms and fields. People would travel to work in “airbuses”, large all-weather helicopters carrying up to 200 passengers. When a person left the airbus station he could drive a coin-operated car equipped with radar.

　　4)Much of the fish landed at the ports would be wasted if it could not be taken quickly to inland towns.

　　5)Common sense tells us that day care would not be so widespread today if parents found children had problems with it.

　　6)Without water, there could be no life.

　　7)Dr. Zunin suggests that these first few minutes together be treated with care.
