Go to any fast-food restaurant and you’ll see super-sized pictures of the food on offer looking mouth-wateringly ravishing.

But how often do the burger， salad or sandwich that you actually buy match up with this image?

然而又有多少次，你真正買到的漢堡，沙拉或三明治和圖片一樣呢?

The difference between image and reality is thanks to professional food stylists — combined with some photographic tricks.

PROMISE： A pretty， delicately ridged white roll， with a tidy layer of tomato slices， a basil leaf and the cheese gently melting over the edges.

承諾：一只造型美觀的白面包卷，面包中間有精美的突起線，里面夾著一層擺放整齊的番茄，一層蔬菜和幾片奶酪，融化的起司滿溢到面包邊上來了。

REALITY： What a mess! Squashed to within an inch of its life by the server when he placed it in the toasting machine， the roll is now messy and ugly. Pick it up and it feels not like light， fluffy bread but like a doorstop.

現(xiàn)實(shí)：真是一團(tuán)糟!當(dāng)廚師把它放進(jìn)烤面包機(jī)時(shí)，這只面包卷好像已經(jīng)被虐的只剩下半條命了，現(xiàn)在它看起來凌亂而丑陋。當(dāng)你把它拿起來時(shí)會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)它不像一只松軟輕盈的面包，倒像一個(gè)門擋。

REALITY： ...except that it’s all been squashed into a mushy mess by the time it emerges from the Starbucks toasting machine. The bacon is dry， the egg rubbery and the poor bread looks like it’s been stamped upon.

現(xiàn)實(shí)：……可是當(dāng)這只三明治從辛巴克的烤爐中被拿出來的時(shí)候，已經(jīng)被擠壓成了一團(tuán)糊狀物。培根烤干了，雞蛋老如橡皮，可憐的面包片看上去好像被人踩過兩腳。

PROMISE： A neat spiral of smooth tortilla， deep green lettuce， pieces of grilled chicken breast and a cheeky tomato poking through.

REALITY： where has that spiral gone? The lettuce is flabbier and less fresh-looking. Though the chicken at Nando’s is， as ever， scrumptious.

現(xiàn)實(shí)：說好的“卷”呢?生菜比圖片中看起來軟塌，而且不太新鮮。不過Nando’s家的雞肉還是一如既往的美味。

PROMISE： The promotional picture shows exquisite horizontal layers of bushy， bright green lettuce， glistening red tomatoes， shiny onions， crinkle-cut gherkins， a juicy burger and neat little blobs of ketchup.

承諾：廣告圖片展示的是一層層豐美的鮮綠色生菜，紅彤彤的番茄，鮮亮的洋蔥，螺旋狀的小黃瓜，這一切構(gòu)成一個(gè)鮮美多汁的漢堡，中間還冒出一小珠一小珠的番茄醬。

REALITY： The burger is a meagre-looking shambles. The meat is surprisingly thin and the whole thing is a squat affair. Delve about a bit and you’ll find four onion rings， two tomato slices and two gherkins hiding in the gooey mess inside — but dull-coloured and limp.

現(xiàn)實(shí)：這只漢堡看起來搖搖欲墜，瘦骨嶙峋。肉片薄的令人吃驚，整只漢堡看起來矮塌塌的。咬下去一口，你會(huì)找到四個(gè)洋蔥圈，兩片番茄，還有兩片黃瓜藏在里面一團(tuán)糊狀物之中——顏色看起來黃黃的，軟塌塌的。

PROMISE： What could be tastier-looking than this fresh-looking roll packed full of thin-sliced， moist-looking beef with slices of crisp， red onions and bright green peppers?

REALITY：The meat is dry (and sparse)， the bread — the ‘Italian roll’ — is soft and seems stale， and the melted cheese is stuck to it.

現(xiàn)實(shí)：牛肉很干(而且分量很少)，面包——“意大利卷”——卻非常軟塌，好像已經(jīng)不新鮮了，融化的奶酪粘在面包上。
